Functional Self Confidence

Spiritual awakening is not tied down to a religion as some people might think. People read the word spiritual and they immediately conclude that this is something for the religious or for the highly spiritual people. The spirituality of the self thro

Spiritual awakening is not the end of the end. It is in fact can be seen as just a stepping stone where you can provide change to other people and the environment you live in. In some religions, spiritual awakening is the pre-requisite to spiritual healing. If spiritual awakening is the finding of your true self, the spiritual healing part is the part where you collect all the positive physical, emotional and spiritual elements and use them to live a happy, healthy, and fulfilling life. It is important that this person pass to other people these positive energies to promote spiritual healing to all. There are religions that would suggest or even require people to accompany spiritual healing with prayers and going to their church. They insist that prayers will provide or reinforce the guidelines they need to reach, repeat and maintain spiritual awakening.

For Christians, spiritual awakening is also attained upon realization that they are sinners and begin to repent. They have this enlightenment that God is the only true path and going to back to him and being faithful to the doctrines of the Church is the way to spiritual healing. This is, of course, only one religion interpreting the essence of spiritual awakening. One cannot say that their interpretation is wrong for the experience is really a subjective one based precisely on interpretations of what should and should not be.

Now those who are far less attuned to religious influences believe that spiritual awakening can be achieved through meditations. Through proper meditation, inner peace and serenity are attained. Healing can be achieved as well. But meditation is only a step towards spiritual awakening. One has to go deeper into the process to achieve the true enlightenment as some people would rather believe.

Meditation can come in different forms and techniques. There’s the mantra meditation where you need to repeat a certain sound which appeals to your mind before you reach that meditative state. There’s the trataka meditation technique where instead of sound, one has to focus his attention or mind on a particular object. This technique has been used in the past by a number of religions. Chakra meditation on the one hand is more of energy based mediation where the goal is to open the chakra points in the body to achieve a higher level of awakening of the consciousness.

Religion and spiritual awakening are connected but depending on the religion as well as the approach and techniques, the interpretation of spiritual awakening varies. But one thing is certain, achieving spiritual wakening results to having a positive outlook in life making living in this world happier and more content.

Relaxing in the Midst of Stress

Stress management is an important practice that most people nowadays need to learn. With a fast paced working environment, people are constantly subjected to tremendous pressure that result to unpleasant levels of stress in their lives. You need to be able to cope quickly with the amount of stress that you have to deal with since it produces several negative effects on your body in mind.

First off, stress can cause your performance to drop because of your inability to focus on the tasks at hand. Stress can also affect your health and body. Oftentimes, stress can escalate into depression or anxiety. Relaxation is one of the best techniques used to cope with and reduce the symptoms of stress. Relaxation methods have been utilized for stress management during ancient times and they prove to be as effective today. Therefore, learning how to relax in the midst of too much stress in your everyday life will mean a world of difference.

Starting a Relaxation Practice

As with anything, starting a relaxation practice is often the biggest hurdle that people are faced with. Once you begin to notice that you seem to quickly lose energy and constantly change your mood, then maybe it's time to re-evaluate yourself because this can be all caused by stress. There are several relaxation activities that help combat stress in your life whether as simple as deep breathing, stretching or meditation, to more advanced relaxation methods such as yoga or tai chi.

To experience the full benefits of such relaxation methods, you need to take time each day to perform them. Only then would you be able to harness its relieving power so you can benefit from stress relief. It does not have to take so much of your time each day, maybe at least 10 minutes to as much as 20 minutes is enough for stress management.

For better success at developing this practice, take note of the following tips:

• Determine a given schedule for each day when you can perform these relaxation exercises. If possible, schedule once or twice a day, whichever is most convenient for you. Then, make sure you follow your schedule strictly. • Refrain from scheduling your relaxation practices near bedtime since you're sleepiness could get in the way. • Never opt for an exercise method that could stress you out all the more. Find a level of practice that are most comfortable and feel relaxed with.

Stress Relief Through Deep Breathing

This is one of the easiest and simplest exercise you can perform to achieve stress relief. This would allow fresh air to get into your lungs. To perform effective deep breathing, follow these methods:

• Sit straight with one hand on your chest and the other on your stomach. • Breathe through your nose, enough to make your stomach rise. Make sure that your chest produce little movements. • Use your mouth to exhale and push the air out with as much force as possible. • Repeat the same process. Take note of the rise and fall of your lower abdomen.

Muscle Relaxation, Yoga and Meditation

For further stress relief, you can perform different relaxation methods that involve your muscles and mind. In muscle relaxation, your objective is to tense and relax the various muscle groups in your body. To do this, find a comfortable position and start by taking slow and deep breaths. Then, create tension on your body by squeezing them tightly while counting slowly until its time to let go. Focus on the release of the tension in a specific body part until you feel relaxed. When doing this, start from foot and eventually move upwards.

Yoga and meditation are also two other techniques used in stress management methods. These are associated with slow and steady movements, as well as gentle stretching. This practice is best for relieving tension in the body and mind, which is why it is recommended for stress relief practices.

Memory is important.

We use it in our daily lives but often we take it for granted. Not many people realize the important function that memory has in our lives. But this should not be the case.

Having a great memory is vital to our survival.

1. It defines who we are

The memories in your lives define who you are. Try erasing all your memories and you will not have a sense of who you are. It is the experiences that we have in the past that will determine who will be in the future. Without a memory of the past, we will find it hard to go forward in the future. We will have to start building relationships again and have a sense of who we are like what we did when we were still growing up.

2. It helps us learn

We use our memory to learn new things and develop new skills. Memory is actually important in school where we need to memorize a lot of information in order to pass our subjects. Memory is the one what we rely on when it comes to examinations and recitations. But memory is not just for memorizing. Knowledge is also acquired with the use of memory. We learn to do things because of our brain’s work.

3. It helps us with our jobs

Although we will not be answering examinations when we are on the job, we need memory to help keep up with our schedules and the meetings that we have had with people. There are professions who rely a lot on excellent memory. You need it as a secretary when you have to be on top of your boss’ schedules. You need when you are a journalist especially in remembering statements that your interviewees have made. You even need it as the owner of the company. You need to remember all the products that you are manufacturing, the capital that you used and the income that you get for the second quarter of the year.

4. It helps build relationships

People who easily remember the names of people are seen as much warmer and more intelligent than those who can’t remember names even on the same night. This is why personal relations employees are trained to remember names on an instant as this shows respect and appreciation for others. When people remember our names, we feel a sense of importance and we in turn forward those feelings of good will to that person.

Having an excellent memory also helps people remember birthdays. This is especially true with men who usually forget dates of anniversaries and birthdays. People who remember special dates come across as more thoughtful and more caring as opposed to those who forget all the time. Even if remembering birthdays are not really a sign of love or a measure of love, people still see it that way.

Memory is actually a reflection of our mental processes. Having excellent memory usually means that you have great brain power. Thus, when you are making an effort to better your memory, you are also improving the way you think. And with that, you don’t really need so many reasons.

Set backs and problems are a part of life

Every person may not be fully aware that all successful people have experienced problems that, at more than one time, demotivated them enough to decide to quit. Hindrances are inevitable in every successful person's life, so don't let them get the best of you!

Financial Setbacks

Money is often the main problem that hinders people from achieving their dreams. There are challenges that arise that require a lot of financial capital or support. The problem for most individuals is that they can't seem to find the proper source to adequately maintain their needs for a variety of projects. Politicians are one of the most common people who need financial support all the time to fund their programs, campaigns and donations.

The main idea is to learn how to wait for the right opportunity, to avoid exhausting your resources too soon and unwisely. It is important to consider other things that will help you survive for the long term. If you're going into business, you should prepare for the startup capital, as well as operational expenses to support the company until it is ready to stand independently. Make sure you plan and review everything before investing.

Dealing with others

Even though you may already be ready for different types of challenges at different times, others may not be as cooperative or as capable as you. Each person has unique needs and aspirations, so as a leader, you need to focus on these first to gain their interest and help. People who are selfish or unwilling to work with you can have traits that can cause the company to collapse. Some of the negative characteristics include dishonesty, being rebellious and laziness. All these can hinder your progress and keep you from reaching your goals.

It is important to develop leadership skills, so that you can adequately encourage and motivate all your people to help you reach certain objectives. Give them missions and functions that best suit their own strengths and capabilities. Understand and get to know other people better so that you can expand the network fully, opening more opportunities in the process. Talk to other successful individuals and learn from their own experience, mistakes and personal techniques. These people usually are more than willing to share their wisdom with you.

Dealing with Nature

The forces of nature are truly inevitable so you always need to have a second or third backup plan ready for these. Some of the things to expect are bad weather, accidents, disease, economic crisis, death, theft, fraud, scandals and change in the system or government. Try to create plans and objectives that are flexible. You can set deadlines for your projects, but make sure that you still have other ways around if the unstoppable occurs.

Natural forces are part of life so you will encounter these as long as you have goals. Even those without goals need to deal with these aspects. The most important thing is that you do not lose steam and stay motivated and fired up to reach your goals, no matter the cost. Find alternatives and other people who can help you deal and cope during setbacks. Learn from your experience and stay prepared for repeat incidents.
